Houston Design Week 2015: Leland Maschmeyer

AIGA Houston is proud to present Leland Maschmeyer for Houston Design Week 2015.

Leland is the executive creative director and founding partner of Collins, in New York, New York.
With a career that began in brand strategy and evolved into design, Leland has won virtually every major award for creative and strategic excellence. His work has been showcased globally and is included in the Museum of Modern Art’s permanent archives. His work has been featured in a range of publications including Fast Company, Wired, Rolling Stone, Campaign, Graphis, Dazed, Communication Arts, CNN, Vice, and Ad Age, which selected his work on Audi’s Art of the Heist as 2005’s “Campaign of the Year.” In 2011, Campaign selected Leland to its “Global 30 Under 30” list.

A leader on design, innovation, and the future of brands, Leland has spoken at Princeton, Mexico’s Ministry of Economics, SXSW, VOR, Museum of Art & Design, Design Management Institute, ICOGRADA, Gravity Free, RGD, AIGA, Memorial Sloan-Kettering’s Zuckerman Research Center, and Re:Design, among others.
Leland also publishes new thinking in the emerging field of mass collaboration. His book, Triumph of the Commons: 55 Theses on the Future, earned acclaim for having “a grip on the zeitgeist.” As a faculty member of the School of Visual Arts MFA program, he teaches “Designing Interactions” and “Designer as Entrepreneur.” He is also a board member of AGIA/NY. Leland graduated cum laude from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a focus on advertising.
