Women’s Design Insights Lecture Series—Jiminie Ha
AIGA Houston presents Women’s Design Insights Lecture Series, our 2017 spring speaker series celebrating the leadership and achievements of women designers. We are proud to present speakers who engage distinct practices that speak to and shape contemporary practice.

AIGA Houston presents an evening with Jiminie Ha, a creative director, curator and artist based in New York City. She is the recipient of the Rome Prize (2012), granted by the American Academy in Rome for her body of work. She holds a BA from Brown and an MFA from Yale School of Art, where she was an Alice Kimball Award recipient. She began her career as a designer in the 2X4 Studio in New York, where her clients included the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and Museo Picasso Malaga. Founded in 2008, W/––– Projects (With Projects) began as an interdisciplinary, installation – focused arts space based in Chinatown, inviting artists, designers and musicians to produce new work under tight spatial constraints. Occupying the interstices of fine arts practices, exhibitions would range from one–time happenings to week – long events. Today W/––– Projects has become an umbrella entity for various art projects in New York and abroad, including White Zinfandel, a biannual arts and culture magazine, and W/ Editions, an ongoing print and object series.

As Creative Director, Jiminie has supervised the redesign of the arts/culture/design magazines Bidoun, Art Asia Pacific, Capricious, Surface, and most recently, Harvard Design Magazine. She has taught at Yale, Rutgers, and Parsons New School of Design. She is currently an adjunct professor at Rhode Island School of Design. Past clients and collaborators include Aperture, Daniel Gordon, the Schools of Architecture at Princeton and Yale, Rizzoli Publishing, Tate Modern, Maison Martin Margiela, Baccarat, Surface Magazine, Thomas JuulHansen, The Faena Group, Storefront for Art and Architecture, UOVO, the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Alps, ARP, and NARS.

We celebrate these designers as women; we celebrate these women as designers. Join us for invigorating talks and empowering ideas at the 2017 Women’s Design Insights Lecture Series.
