The Printing Museum
1324 W Clay St.
Houston, TX 77019
Join AIGA Houston and The Printing Museum for an exclusive screening of the feature-length documentary Linotype: The Film, from director Doug Wilson, followed by a live Linotype demonstration!
The film centers around the Linotype type casting machine—dubbed the "Eighth Wonder of the World" by Thomas Edison—which revolutionized printing, communication, and society.
With interviews of legendary type designer (and former Linotype employee) Matthew Carter, Frank Romano, Carol Knopes, Otmar Hoefer, and others, the film tells the surprisingly emotional story of the people connected to the Linotype, its history, and existence in today's technologically advanced world.
Snacks and refreshments will be served. Screening will be followed by a live Linotype demonstration on one of the few original Linotype machines still in existence—now in The Printing Museum's collection.
