Tierney Malone: Third Ward My Harlem / Remix from chris nelson on Vimeo.

The second collaboration between Chris Nelson Creative and Houston artist Tierney Malone, this project remixed one of three films created for Malone's, Third Ward My Harlem installation at Diverseworks.

The film is an alternate telling of Tierney's story of becoming part of Houston's vibrant Third Ward artistic community. Newly shot DSLR footage, rough sketches, and samples of the original piece combine over a live version of Cory Wilson's score.

On Saturday, April 2 from 2-4pm, author Sharifa Rhodes-Pitts and painter Tierney Malone will discuss the Harlem Renaissance and the survival of it's legacy at Labtonica. During this time, you will hear readings from the author and her book, Harlem is Nowhere and Meta-Four Houston will share a piece from Fire, a Harlem Renaissance magazine. There will also be a book signing after the discussion and live music for all to enjoy.

I have been following Objectif Magazine for a little while now and am eager to keep up with what the organization will do next. They have recently been sharing on their new site, objmag.com, where I have found interesting articles and developed a fancy for their eye on fashion, art and design. Keep up with Objectif on Facebook to stay updated on the haps. This group is making waves in our city's cultural history by keeping a steady stream of events and growing as active and note-worthy members in Houston's creative community.
