Get out the Vote

Election Day is November 4!

Help motivate your friends, family and others in your community to vote by spreading the AIGA Get Out the Vote campaign. AIGA invited designers from across the United States to create nonpartisan posters that inspire the American public to participate in the electoral process and vote for a presidential candidate in the 2008 general election.

By motivating eligible citizens to register and turn out on election day, Get Out the Vote fulfills an ongoing AIGA objective of demonstrating the value of design to the public, public officials and business by providing a clear call to action for an activity that is important to everyone.

From the AIGA website, you can download hi-res PDF files of the posters and print them out yourself. Post them at your office or in your classroom, but whatever you do, post them! The AIGA President also has some of the printed versions of the 24 selected posters, so email if you want them.

FYI. I voted this morning – early voting rocks! It only took about 10 minutes and I got to proudly wear that “I voted” sticker today (although I’m hoping some someone will design a nicer version of that).

There’s lots of  “Get our the Vote” videos on YouTube, so it’s worth a search. Watch this: My Name is Vote, designed by Stu Haury, AIGA Portland
