Lunch and some great advice!

Thanks to our great panelists for our July Business Lunch “Starting and Growing a Design Business: The Opportunities and Pitfalls.” There was lots of great advice given, so I hope that you’ll share below the best piece of wisdom that you learned.

Panelists:
Brand Extract: Jonathan Fisher, Co-Founder and CEO
Deuce Creative: Founders Aimee Smith, Marketing Director, and Kristen Moses, Creative Director
Phusion Graphics: Bill Page, Owner and Creative Director
Water Design Studio: Owner Heather Loftiss, Creative Director

Forgot to bring the camera, but we did take a few photos with the trusty iPhone. Bill Page also took the time to answer some of our questions more fully in his blog. In addition to the links he posted, I’d also recommend:

  • AIGA Center for Practice Management
The AIGA Center for Practice Management provides resources to help designers with the daily management of their studios. We address a broad range of internal business and operational issues, giving creative professionals important tools for success.
  • Recourses
In addition to a great newsletter, they also have quite a few business issue PDFs available right on the site (you’ll need to register).
