Help serve our local community and determine the future of AIGA Houston by nominating its leaders. Board Nominations is an opportunity to nominate individuals to join the AIGA Houston chapter as a board and/or committee member. Help us represent Houston and continue elevating our city’s creative landscape.
This year’s nominations will elect the chapter’s next team of executive officers to serve AIGA Houston’s community during the 2022 – 2024 term.
Who is Eligible
- Creatives living in Houston or surrounding regions
- Self- or peer-nominations are welcome
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Board position: AIGA membership is required
(Note: Membership is not required when you apply but is required once voted in.) - Committee position: AIGA membership is not required
- Nonprofit governance knowledge is not required, but highly encouraged

Nomination Process
- See what’s open: Review open positions and role descriptions. Choose what position you would like to apply for.
- Submit nomination form: Apply through our nomination form. Fill out our questionnaire and submit your resume and contact information.
- Nominating Committee: Once the nomination period closes, the appointed 2022 Nominating Committee will review submissions and applicants.
- Nominee interview: The 2022 Nominating Committee will hold an interview with potential candidates throughout the month of March depending on availability.
- Chapter slate vote: The Nominating Committee will propose a slate of nominees to be approved by the current board. The chapter slate will then be presented to all AIGA Houston members for a majority vote election.
- Term start: Elected candidates will be onboarded and new board/committee members will begin their term on July 1, 2022.

The Membership Committee facilitates the membership journey, helping drive new growth and encourage retention. The committee is responsible for directing membership campaigns, supporting active members, and recruiting new members.

Programming
Focus areas: community, education
The Programming Committee focuses on community events intended to connect Houston area creatives, educate designers, and help strengthen skills for a variety of audiences, including emerging, mid-level, and senior-level creatives. The committee coordinates 1–2 portfolio reviews annually, develops and maintains relationships with local educators/schools, and manages Design Loop, the chapter’s mentorship program. The committee is also responsible for events including Monthly Creative Meetups, Community Day, Holiday Party, 20×20, and creative talks.

The Design Advocacy Committee focuses on events, resources, and tools that advocate for the role of the designer, promote the value of creative work, and encourage social awareness and design-driven change. The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee is dedicated to expanding social justice knowledge and encouraging members of the creative community to think critically about equity, inclusion, privilege, and bias. The committee develops programming and content that encourages dialogue, raises awareness of community issues, promotes inclusivity, and celebrates diversity.

The Finance Committee identifies, secures, and maintains partnerships and sponsorships to support the chapter’s programming and activities.
